Wildcats drub Millionaires to sweep tripleheader senior night

MILL HALL-The Central Mountain Wildcat varsity wrestling team capped off a triple header sweep against Williamsport Thursday night, as the Wildcats rolled over the visiting Millionaires by a 64-7 score. The Lady Wildcats posted a 42-23 win over the Lady Millionaires and the Wildcat Junior High team posted a solid 57-21 win to open the senior night.
The boys varsity match started at 145 pounds and Luke Simcox walked out and received one of the four forfeits the Wildcats would receive. Senior Griffin Walizer registered seven takedowns before pinning Nate Lundy in 1:35 of the first period at 152 pounds and Wildcats were up 12-0.
Sophomore Hunter Donley came out at 160 and built up a 12-4 lead before pinning Austin Dunlap in 1:06 of the first period. Junior Jacob Weaver followed that with a fall over Jackson Raker in 1:15 of the first period of their 172 pound match and that put the Wildcats up 24-0.
The Millionaires’ Narig Burks stopped the Wildcat run, as he posted a 7-2 decision over Bryce Brungard at 189 pounds, the two had split their previous two meetings this year. With the score at 24-3, Wildcat senior Wyatt Kramer came and and received a forfeit at 215 pounds and senior Rocco Serafini bumped up to 285 and pinned the Millionaires Hasin Cobb in 1:25 of the first period and the Wildcats were no up 36-3.
Freshman Gavin Heverly rolled to a 16-5 major decision over Lauger Waldman at 107 pounds to increase the lead to 40-3, before the Millionaires sophomore Collin Nasdeo posted a solid 12-0 major decision over Wildcat senior Caden Stoner at 114 pounds, setting the team score at 40-7.
Sophomore Jaggar Pardoe built up an 11-2 lead before pinning the Millionaires Steven Bott in 1:06 of the third period making it 46-7 after 121 pounds. Wildcat freshmen Aiden Kunes then received a forfeit at 127 pounds, which was followed by fellow freshmen Patrick Tarantella recording a fall in 1:20 of the first period over Jahki Burget and the Wildcats were up 58-7. Sophomore Carnell Noone closed out the night by going out and receiving a forfeit at 139 pounds to set the final at 64-7.
The Lady Wildcats saw Emma Scarborough-Perez (112), Austyn Falls (136), Madelyn Bryant (170), Kendall Wagner (190) and Ashlyn Miller (235) all recording wins by fall, while Kennedy Metzger (130) and Abby Sneath (142) both received forfeit wins in the Lady Wildcats 42-23 win over the Lady Millionaires. The win for Head Coach Dylan Caprio’s Lady Wildcats upped their season record to 4-8.
The Wildcats Junior High squad improved to 6-0, as they posted a solid 57-21 win over the Little Millionaires. Carter Frank (108), Luke Nonemaker (138), Kyle Everett (170), Tanner McCall (190) and Todd Caris (250) all won their bouts by fall, while Will Stout (80), Hunter Nace (87), Dalton Haagen (145) and Dakota Parker (155) all received wins by way for forfeits. Ashton Falls (122) rounded out the winners with a regular decision victory.
The next action for the Wildcats, now 5-0 on the season, will be at Milton on Monday night and then next Thursday will be the big Mat Town wrestling special on the campus of Lock Haven University. The night will feature the Boys Varsity, Girls Varsity and Junior High match between Central Mountain and Bald Eagle Area. It will also feature the Lock Haven Bald Eagles and Lady Eagles.
The schedule for that night will find the Lady Wildcats and Lady Eagles will be facing off on one mat, while the boys Junior Varsity matches will wrestle on the second mat at 4:30 pm. Then at 5:00 pm the Boys varsity and Junior High teams face off on two mats. Then at 7 pm, the LHU Bald Eagles face off with George Mason University.
The night is a funding drive for the Mike “Mouse” Millward Scholarship fund, in honor of the late LHU wrestling Hall of Famer and former standout wrestler at Bald Eagle Area. Millward finished his wrestling career at LHU with a 105-38-3 record, three time runner-up in the Eastern Wrestling League and two time runner-up in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
Mike, famously known as Mouse, was a long time referee after his wrestling career was over and a great ambassador for the sport of wrestling. He unfortunately had his life cut very short suddenly in July 2021.
