LHU Women’s Basketball gets sixth straight victory
ROCHESTER, NY – Trailing heading into the final period of action, the Lock Haven women’s basketball team outscored Roberts Wesleyan University by 13 points in the fourth quarter to steal a 55-47 non-conference victory on the road on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 9).
The Bald Eagles secured their sixth straight victory to improve to 6-1 on the season. Roberts Wesleyan falls to 2-5 on the year. The winning streak is the longest for Lock Haven since also winning six straight in 2018-19.
Despite leading for the opening 19 minutes of the first half, Lock Haven trailed by four entering the final period.
However, The Haven outscored Roberts Wesleyan, 22-9, in the fourth quarter to ignite the come-from-behind victory.
The Bald Eagles’ offense caught fire in the fourth, as they knocked down 50 percent (6-of-12) of their shots from the floor, while holding the Red Hawks to just 14 percent (2-of-14). The Haven also doubled the Red Hawks in successful free throw attempts (10-5).
Jenadia Jordan (York, Pa./Linden Hall) continues to lead the Bald Eagles’ offense as she poured in a team-high 14 points to go with seven rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Alana Robinson (Rockaway, N.J./Pope John Paul II) missed a double-double by just one point, finishing with nine points and 10 rebounds, while blocking two shots. Taylor Leidy (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) also scored nine points, while Jackie Fetsko finished right behind Robinson with eight rebounds.
Rhlyn Rouse (York, Pa./York Tech) added six points and six rebounds to lead the second unit.
Madeline Evans (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) chipped in seven points and seven rebounds.
In the first half, both teams struggled from the field as both schools shot below 30 percent from inside and outside the arch.
Lock Haven held the lead for 90 percent of the first half, the Red Hawks ended the second quarter on a 7-0 run to carry a 25-22 advantage into the break. Jordan led the offense with two points, while Robinson anchored a strong Bald Eagle defensive effort with six rebounds and a block.
