Lady Bucks down Austin 32-24, undefeated Williamson up next

GALETON PA- The Bucktail Lady Bucks entered the annual Galeton Tipoff Tournament having won the past three titles. On Friday night Austin presented the challenge. The Lady Panthers were fresh off of a previous night’s victory over Oswayo Valley.
Mak Wagner would make an impact from the start by scoring 11 of Bucktail’s 13 first quarter points. Austin had trouble finding the hoop all night and only managed 4 points in the first.
The Lady Bucks held the Lady Panthers to single digits in every quarter, but Bucktail’s first quarter would be their only double-digit frame of the game.
Bucktail’s 8-6 second quarter advantage would see them hold a 21-10 halftime lead.
Austin’s defense continued to hold the Lady Bucks in check throughout the second half. Bucktail’s 9-6 third quarter would give them a 30-16 lead going into the fourth quarter and they would need the advantage.
Austin would storm back in the final quarter. Marissa Stuckey, Ella Brewer, Lilli Clinger and Isabella Rees would all add buckets in the fourth for Austin, part of an 8-2 Lady Panthers’ advantage to set the final.
Mak Wagner’s 21 points would lead all scorers. Eva sockman would add 4 points for Bucktail and Alexis Lowery netted 3 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and collected 5 steals.
Rees led Austin with 7 points.
Bucktail (2-0) will now meet 3-0 Williamson in the tournament final. Williamson features on of District IV’s premier players in Taylor Rae Jones.
Austin (1-2) will meet winless Galeton in the girls consolation contest. The Lady Bucks and Lady Warriors are set to meet at 7pm Saturday night.
