No. 24 LH Men’s Wrestling set for Patriot Open

LOCK HAVEN, PA– The nationally-ranked Lock Haven men’s wrestling team will return to action on Sunday, Dec. 3 when the Bald Eagles take part in the 2023 Patriot Open tournament, hosted by George Mason. Action Sunday is set for a 10 a.m. start.

This week (Nov. 28), Lock Haven checked in at No. 24 in InterMat’s national team rankings. A total of five individuals were listed in their respective weight-by-weight national rankings including returning All-American Anthony Noto, who is ranked third at 125 pounds. The Bald Eagle is 2-0 on the season.

Both are returning national qualifiers. Tyler Stoltzfus is ranked No. 31 at 174 and Isaac Reid is ranked No. 29 at 285. Henson, a transfer, was a national qualifier for Oklahoma last season. On Sunday (Nov. 26), he led the way once again for Lock Haven and claimed the 141-pound title at The Haven’s Mat-Town Open. Henson was 4-0 and claimed his second straight tournament title after he also won top honors on Nov. 18 at Millersville’s Shorty Hitchcock Classic.

Last week (Nov. 21), Henson was named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Wrestler of the Week after his impressive run at Millersville. It marked the second straight week where a Bald Eagle was named the MAC’s Athlete of the Week as Noto took home the honor on Nov. 14.

For Lock Haven, Sunday’s (Nov. 26) Mat-Town Open marked the Bald Eagles’ first competition at home this season and it served as the first of two home tournaments on the 2023-24 schedule. The Haven will also host four duals on the season with matches vs. Buffalo (Jan. 19), George Mason (Jan. 25), Clarion (Feb. 1) and Cleveland State (Feb. 16).

Following action at Sunday’s Patriot Open, the Bald Eagles will focus their attention on the Collegiate Wrestling Duals, where they will take on No. 3 NC State, No. 5 Ohio State and No. 16 Northern Iowa on Tuesday, Dec. 19 in Nashville, Tennessee (Montgomery Bell Academy).
