No. 8 LHU Women’s Wrestling set to host No. 22 Elmira Thursday night
LOCK HAVEN, PA – The nationally-ranked Lock Haven women’s wrestling team is set to return to action Thursday (Nov. 30) night at 6 p.m. when the Bald Eagles host No. 22 Elmira in dual action.
Lock Haven will enter Thursday’s match ranked eighth in the nation.
Thursday’s match marks The Haven’s first competition since a strong effort at the Adrian College Women’s Invitational on Nov. 12. The dual with Elmira will serve as Lock Haven’s first dual-match of the 2023-24 season and the Bald Eagles’ home-opener.
Elmira is 2-2 this season in dual action.
Lock Haven’s lineup features three nationally-ranked wrestlers.
Individually, Kaelani Shufeldt, Grace Stem and Jessica Johnson are ranked at their respective weight classes. Shufeldt is ranked No. 3 at 109 and Stem is ranked third at 143, while Johnson is ranked No. 9 at 170.
Both Stem and Johnson are coming off individual titles at the aforementioned Adrian Invitational.
Elmira – ranked No. 22 in the nation – features one nationally-ranked wrester in Zoey Lints, who is ranked No. 10 at 143, which sets up a potential top-10 clash with Stem Thursday night.
The Haven’s projected lineup features three freshmen, four sophomores and three juniors.
Lock Haven is 3-1 all-time vs. Elmira and the two teams met three times last season. Elmira won the third and final meeting of the season a year ago, but the Bald Eagles held a 2-1 advantage over Elmira last season, which included a home-victory in Thomas Fieldhouse on Dec. 1, 2022.
Last season, the Bald Eagles went 9-5 overall in duals, which included a perfect 3-0 run at home.
Following Thursday’s home dual with Elmira, Lock Haven will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 10 at Scared Heart where the Bald Eagles will take on host Scared Heart, New England College and Delaware Valley at the Sacred Heart Quad.
