KCSD Switches Robb Elementary, Central Mountain Middle School to Remote Learning for Two Weeks
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Citing two new cases of COVID-19, the Keystone Central School District posted word on Saturday that both the Robb Elementary School in Lock Haven and the Central Mountain Middle School in Mill Hall will go to two weeks of remote learning at each school, effective Monday, Nov. 2.
The district said students who have a “device at home” should join their classes remotely as of Monday; also that, “Families will be notified by their principals regarding device and material distribution. More detailed information will be forthcoming when it becomes available.”
The two new cases, one staff member each at each school, bring to seven reported coronavirus cases within the district in the last couple weeks.
The Saturday message from superintendent Jacquelyn Martin to district families said:
Dear KCSD Families,
We have received notification of two additional positive COVID-19 cases among KCSD staff members. One staff member works at Robb Elementary and one staff member at Central Mountain Middle School.
The PA Department of Health is currently doing contact tracing and has already determined that several staff members and students will need to quarantine. Staff members and family members who are considered contacts will receive a phone call from an administrator and/or the PA Department of Health.
Out of caution, we will need to move Robb Elementary and Central Mountain Middle School to remote learning models for two weeks. Students who have a device at home should join their classes remotely beginning on Monday. Families will be notified by their principals regarding device and material distribution.
The middle school will be cleaned and sanitized on Sunday. All Central Mountain Middle School staff members who are not under quarantine restrictions will be expected to report to their respective building for regular work hours on Monday as classes will continue remotely.
Robb is being cleaned and sanitized on Sunday and Monday. Robb Elementary staff members who are not under quarantine restrictions will be expected to work remotely on Monday and then report the building for regular work hours on Tuesday.
More detailed information will be forthcoming as it becomes available.
In a post on Friday, superintendent Martin had reiterated that schools would stay open “as long as we can do so safely” but parents should be prepared for possible school closures with little advance warning.”
