Clinton County United Way has established the COVID-19 Clinton County Community Recovery Fund
The Clinton County United Way has established the COVID-19 Clinton County Community Recovery Fund. This fund is separate from the United Way’s annual campaign and will be used to help our community respond and recover to the ongoing crisis. These funds will be used to support the partner agencies of the United Way and other non-profits who provide direct assistance to individuals and families impacted by the pandemic. Things such as rental assistance, assistance with utility payments, housing assistance, and food and necessities through our partner agencies that provide these services.
PPL has generously provided the CCUW $5,000 to start this fund as well as the Truist Foundation who has also generously provided $2,600.
“During this difficult time, we have all found ourselves adapting to new situations and new circumstances. Many of our friends and neighbors are now without work struggling to figure out how they are going to pay their bills, stock up on groceries, and how to recover once this crisis has passed. Now more than ever the work our local non-profits do is more critical than ever. Many of our local non-profits themselves are struggling to maintain their operations, provide assistance, and have lost opportunities to raise their own funds. This fund will address those concerns and allow the non-profits that are directly helping people impacted by the COVID-19 crisis to continue to do so.”
– Ben Green CCUW Exec. Director
This current crisis is affecting us all. Unfortunately, the economic impact of this crisis is affecting some more than others. Clinton County has a high “ALICE” population compared to other areas of the state, which stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. Simply put, people who are employed, or were prior to the crisis, yet still live paycheck to paycheck. This population of residents is being disproportionally affected. People who are unable to afford to buy 3 weeks of groceries at a time. People who are worried about how they are going to pay their rent at a time when we all need a safe shelter. This fund will help this population and others in Clinton County.
“The resources of Clinton County United Way impact our community at many levels. We are proud to lead the effort towards raising funds to assist our neighbors and friends in the recovery process following the aftermath of this global crisis. Although this situation puts us all at a disadvantage, it’s important to remember that there are always others that have a tougher time than most. No donation is too small, any effort helps. We must live UNITED and remember to GIVE, ADVOCATE & VOLUNTEER.”
