It takes many cooks in the kitchen to prepare a meal for an entire building. Ms. Brandy Boob’s Life Skills class at Robb Elementary did just that. The students, aides, teachers, student teachers, and administration paused for a moment to have a picture. Adults included in the photo are, in no particular order: Lori Martin, Marissa Martin, Mary Gugliocello, Kourtney Wooding, Maria Bronsberg, Dr. Alan Lonoconus, Suzanne Laubscher, Brandy Boob, and Robin Taranto. Students in photo: Isabella Smith, Kendall Dunlap, Tom Crust, Trinity Wetzel, Braylon Snyder, Blake Reeder, Lauren Bilbay, Charles Newman, Hannah Coakley, Hunter Meskell-Breasette, Natalia Dorman, Tucker Williams and Joseph Rote.

LOCK HAVEN – Students in Ms. Brandy Boob’s class at Robb Elementary navigated a potential snow storm and a thawing turkey to put together their annual Thanksgiving Dinner for Robb staff and several KCSD administrators. “We look forward to hosting this meal every year” said Boob.
“When Mrs. T said we need to consider the potential of a snow storm on Thursday into Friday, we decided to get cooking and hold the meal today” she continued.

Tuesday and Wednesday the students and classroom aides, along with Brandy, cooked a turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, gravy, corn, and several desserts, including pumpkin pie.

Students greeted each guest, walked them through the buffet line, poured their drinks, and seated them at a festively decorated table complete with a student colored placemat. Faculty of Robb attend the meal during their prep periods and district administration visit over the lunch hours to enjoy the home cooked meal.

The dinner is part of the life skills program that Boob and her coworkers offer to the students. Students are learning to cook and clean up, as well as, proper food handling, hand washing, and customer service skills. Students regularly checked on guests to make sure everything was good and that they didn’t need anything else to enjoy the meal.

“It was a very good meal” said Ms. Suzanne Laubscher, KCSD Special Education Supervisor. “I look forward to this day every school year”.
