Lycoming County Man Dies in Fiery Christmas Day Car Crash near Mill Hall

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – A Lycoming County man lost his life when his car crashed from Route 220 near the Mill Hall Exit on Christmas Day.

State police identified the victim as Nathan K. Crist, 31, of Montgomery. The time of the crash was 1:13 p.m.

The police report said Crist was northbound, attempting to negotiate a left curve when he lost control of his vehicle. It traveled into the left lane briefly and then back to the right, sliding sideways as it left the roadway on the east side of the highway, striking a guide rail. After striking the guide rail, the vehicle went into a roll, coming to rest on an embankment, some 50 feet off the roadway. The vehicle then became engulfed in flames.

Crist was pronounced dead at the scene by Clinton County Coroner Zach Hanna. Also responding at the site were volunteers from the Castanea Fire Company.
