CM girls soccer falls at Shikellamy

SUNBURY, PA – The Central Mountain Lady Wildcat soccer team hasn’t played since August and it showed as they visited a very strong Shikellamy team on Monday night. The home side started fast as they put four goals past the Lady Wildcats in the opening 15 minutes. Shell-shocked, the Lady Wildcats did put one past the home side as Taylor Campbell slipped a ball into the attacking third for Lily Hendricks. The senior opened her senior scoring campaign by slotting it past the home keeper. The half ended with one more goal for Shikellamy.

The second half was more of the same as the home side kept the Lady Wildcats pinned in their defensive end and created chances often. The home team found the net five different times again in the second half. The Lady Wildcats had difficulty maintaining shape, organization and a defensive edge and felt the pressure often from the home team.

With it being only the second game of the season, it was evident the long lay-off from heat restrictions and weather didn’t help the Lady Wildcats in preparation against a team now playing their sixth game of the season. Coach Ryan Veltri said there will be a lot to look forward to and some evaluations from the video analysis to get the Lady Wildcats back on their front foot. Next up will be a trip to Altoona where the Lady Wildcats hope to rebound and avenge a loss from a year ago.

The JV team also struggled to find the net and had two shots get past them, one in each half. The end result saw the Lady Wildcats losing both games on the day. Emme Madigan in her first high school game as a center back looked solid and poised. Cora Seyler made a big save in goal in the second half, a great reaction and fingertip save that kept the home side to only two on the day. The first official JV game of the season, the Lady Wildcats are looking to continue to grow.
