Phoenix golfers open new season

MACKEYVILLE, PA – The Sugar Valley High School golf team opened its 2023 season on Thursday, hosting Jersey Shore, Bald Eagle Area and Loyalsock in a 4-team event at Belles Springs Golf Course. The Phoenix finished in fourth place, Jersey Shore on top.

Sugar Valley will be back at their home Belles Springs course on Monday, hosting the annual Susquehanna River Rivalry, Jersey Shore and Central Mountain the other participants.

The Phoenix was led Thursday by Stu Meixel with 100; other scorers were Bryer Martin, 113; Sam Goldsmith, 118; Ben Parker, 137; Josh Miller-Mitchell, 138; Remi Ripka, 139.
