New school year approaches for Keystone Central

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – In Thursday night’s school board meeting noted for its brevity, Keystone Central School District Superintendent Jacquelyn Martin gave a brief update on the upcoming school year. Dr. Martin said the first day back for district staff will be Thursday, Aug. 24, the first day for students, Wednesday, Aug. 30.

She noted the district is ready to welcome its kindergarten class of 2036.

The superintendent said that earlier Thursday she hosted a luncheon for the district’s summer workers including custodians, maintenance, cafeteria staff and secretaries. The meal was prepared by the cafeteria staff and held in the Central Mountain Middle School Cafeteria. “Thank you again to all of our staff who are helping us prepare to open our doors for yet another school year,” she said.

She congratulated board member Jeff Johnston for his election as Central Intermediate Unit #10 board president.
The superintendent said that the district’s administrative team earlier in the week attended the Learning Summit 2023 hosted by the Pennsylvania Principals Association and the Pennsylvania Superintendents Association. “This was valuable time for us to learn together and build team member relationships with our new principals.”

The board unanimously approved the meeting agenda; it contained multiple items reviewed by the board at its Aug. 3 work session. Eight of the nine board members were in attendance and the meeting lasted nine minutes.
