psu-wrestlingUNIVERSITY PARK – The annual clash between our local D1 wrestling programs went down basically as predicted. The defending three-time national champion Nittany Lions yielded very little to the Bald Eagles from Lock Haven University. In all, PSU won eight of the 10 bouts including bonus points for two major decisions, two tech falls and a pin in the 34-6 win.

Though it wasn’t a pleasant homecoming for new Lock Haven head coach, Scott Moore, there were a couple of matches that he can use to build on. Macaulay Maldarelli picked up a narrow 8-7 win over the Nit’s Zachary Beitz at 149 pounds. Followed by Fred Garcia’s 3-1 decision over Wesley Phipps at 184 pounds.

For Penn State, Nicholas Megaludis recored a tech fall over Ronald Perry at 125 while Matthew Brown offered the same result over Travis Moyer at 174. David Taylor ended his 165 pound match with Jacob Kemerer in 6:09 with a fall.
