Virginia “Ginny” Rose Serafini
Obituary
Virginia Rose Serafini, known as Ginny to her family and friends, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Bucktail Medical Center, Renovo, PA.
Ginny was born on September 15, 1952, in Renovo and was the daughter of the late Albert and Elvera (Malizia) Tarantella. She was a 1970 graduate of Bucktail High School.
On September 25, 1971, she married the love of her life William J. “Bill” Serafini, Sr., who survives. Ginny and Bill celebrated 51 years of marriage. They made their home and raised their children at Huron Avenue in Renovo.
For many years she worked at Bucktail Medical Center as a cook. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Sons of Italy, and the Catholic Daughters of America. Throughout her life, Ginny was active in the community and was a familiar face and regular volunteer at the Renovo Senior Center. When she wasn’t helping others, she spent her time cooking Italian foods, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, having coffee with her friends, feeding the birds and deer, gardening, canning, and visiting with those who passed by the front porch.
In addition to her husband, Ginny is survived by her daughter, Amy Serafini of Atlanta, GA, and two sons, William, Jr. (Renee) of Mill Hall, and Joseph (Chelsi) of Lock Haven. The youngest members of her family that she adored are Gino, Rocco, Mario, Adriana, Finn, and Willow.
Ginny’s brothers and sisters-in-law treated her like a queen – John (Mary Ann) Tarantella of Farwell, Thomas (Ann) Tarantella of East Renovo and Vincent (Deborah) Tarantella of Farwell.
She was known as Aunt Gin to many including Albert, Nikki, Megan, Tony, Damien, Bryan, Jimmy, Laura, Maria, Johnny, Raymond, Tommy, Patrick, Andrea, and Vinnie.
In addition to her parents, Ginny was preceded in death by two brothers Albert Tarantella and Michael Tarantella.
A Memorial Mass will take place on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic
Church, 925 Huron Avenue, Renovo. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hyner. Arrangements are being handled by Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth Street, Renovo.
