Optimist’s Roundtable

By Martha Sykes

In today’s world, we certainly live in a technological atmosphere. It is a part of every day life any more. We get in our cars to travel somewhere strange and the GPS navigation system gives us explicit directions to get us to our destination. We can have a security system by our front door that alerts us to someone walking on to our porch before they knock on our door. Our phones alert us to messages that can come from miles away from home or tell us about weather alerts and many more things. Our smart watch tells us that it is time to stand if we sit too long, it can alert us to a heart problem, or report how well we sleep.

Throughout the scriptures we are reminded how God can lead us in the right direction as we go through life, and teaches us the way to eternal life. God also can alert us to making sure we trust in Him and not the evil one who lurks around us in many ways!!

The Holy Spirit is our guide through life and promises us to be there to keep us on the right path. We can find guidance in many of the Psalms that proclaim that God leads us in the right direction so that we don’t lose our way through life’s trials and struggles.

Every day we walk under the loving and caring watch of our Savior. God provides us with His tools for living with His divine purpose and plan for each of us.

This life is a journey full of many gadgets to help us along the way, but we do not have to walk alone, wandering in many directions, lost and maybe full of doubts about the future. When we turn our eyes upon Jesus and open our hearts to listen to God’s still, small voice, we can realize that God’s navigation system for life is just what we need! If we follow Him, we will find ourselves in just the right place to serve Him more faithfully.
