Primary election a month away

LOCK HAVEN, PA – Clinton County director of voting Maria Boileau says her office has processed 1,139 mail-in/absentee ballot requests for the May primary and for those who requested them, ballots are being mailed out this week and applicants should receive their ballot within the week.

The county voter registrar provided the update at the county commissioners’ work session on Monday.

Of the mail-in requests, 788 came from Democrats and 346 from Republicans. Boileau said the county mail-in drop box was to be placed in front of the county Piper Building Monday afternoon. County board chairman Miles Kessinger urged mail-in voters to return their ballots in a timely manner; they must be received by the county by 8 p.m. election day, May 16. Otherwise, Kessinger said, they can’t be counted, “unless the courts change their minds again, which they have done in the past.”
