Geisinger Trauma to host farm safety day at Clinton County Fairgrounds Saturday

LAMAR TOWNSHIP, PA – The public is invited to join Geisinger Trauma Saturday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Clinton County Fairgrounds for an Agricultural Safety Day.

“Agribusiness is one of the leading industries in Pennsylvania, and unfortunately, farm-related injuries often occur. Every year, we treat children and adults injured while playing and working on farms,” said Amy Swarthout, Trauma Program Manager at Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital. “We hope to help prevent injuries and save lives by offering education on farm safety, emergency preparedness and how to stop life-threatening bleeding.”

The event will feature exhibits including Stop the Bleed, firearms safety, hunter safety, power take-off safety, tractor stability, pediatric farm safety, school bus safety, ATV safety and more.

In addition to Geisinger, Penn State Extension, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Nittany Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Goodwill Hose Company and EMS and PA Trails Foundation will all be there.

Admission is free and the event is open to the public.
