Young child fatally injured in Nittany Valley farm accident
LAMAR TOWNSHIP, PA – Mill Hall police say an 18-month-old East End child was the victim in a Wednesday afternoon farming accident.
The police report said at 4:33 p.m. Wednesday emergency medical services responded to the 700 block of East End Mountain Road and discovered that the young child had been run over by a loaded grain wagon. Despite all the efforts of emergency service personnel, police said, the child succumbed to the injuries.
Police said their investigation revealed a family member of the child was backing up a loaded feed wagon using a skip loader to push the wagon backward; the machine operator did not see the child behind the rear wheel of the wagon, resulting in the youth being struck. The incident was deemed accidental.
Police did not release the identities of those involved.
