LOCK HAVEN, PA – Dickey Realty, LLC on Thursday evening held an impromptu tour of the former Dickey Elementary School on S. Fairview Street in Lock Haven. The tour was set up by current owner Dickey Realty, LLC for non-profit organizations which might have an interest in locating in the former two-story school building.

The school owners earlier this week took to social media to alert the public that “We are interested in donating the property to a qualified 501C-3 charity.”

Half a dozen agencies toured the building on Thursday and one of the co-owners, Bobby Maguire, said he was well pleased with the turnout. Organizations who took the tour included the Clinton County Women’s Center, the Lock Haven YMCA and an organization looking for a site for an agricultural education center.

There had been an effort to locate Clinton County Housing Coalition apartments in the building, constructed in 1966, but the last of two such proposals had been voted down by Lock Haven City Council on a 4-3 vote last November.

The structure served as an elementary school until March of 2020. Covid hit at that time and students never returned as the district decided to close the structure before the next school year and Dickey Realty subsequently purchased it at auction.
