LH’s Noto named Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Year

CLEVELAND – All-American 125-pounder Anthony Noto (Lima, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) of the Lock Haven University men’s wrestling team has been named the 2022-23 Mid-American Conference (MAC) Wrestler of the Year.

The major season-ending award comes on the heels of Noto’s remarkable run to All-American honors, cemented by his fourth-place finish at 2022-23 NCAA Division I Men’s Wrestling National Championships. In earning All-American status, Noto became the 44th NCAA Division I All-American for the Bald Eagles, and the first since 2019.

Noto also claimed his second consecutive individual MAC title at 125 pounds on March 4.

Noto finished his run to fourth place and All-American status with a 5-2 record at the 2023 NCAA Championships. It marked his second straight appearance at the NCAA Tournament, and he’s now 6-4 lifetime at the national championships. Noto entered the recent NCAA quarterfinals on a 20-match win streak.

The Bald Eagle finished the season with a sensational 34-4 record. On the season, Noto went 13-1 in duals and his 34 wins were a team high. He recorded six tech falls, five pins and three major decisions.

Noto is now 65-7 in this remarkable two-year LHU career.

Last year, Noto was named the Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year.
