MANHEIM, PA – Kaelani Shufeldt (Huntington Beach, Calif./Marina) of the No. 9 Lock Haven women’s wrestling team has been named the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Women’s Wrestler of the Month in Region 1 after an undefeated month of January.

At the 2023 NWCA Multi-Division National Dual Meet Championships, Shufeldt defeated No. 8 Pauline Granados. In the Bald Eagles’ dual versus No. 8 Gannon, the freshman defeated No. 4 Julianne Moccia with a tech fall, 12-2, to earn her second ranked win of the month.
In the most recent set of NWCA rankings, Shufeldt moved up to No. 5 at 109 pounds, and has racked up a 19-1 overall record with six pins and six tech falls.
Shufeldt and the Bald Eagles get back on the mat on Wednesday, Feb. 8 on the road against Elmira. That dual is set for a 7 p.m. start.
