Bigelow, Lady Indians race past Bucktail, 53-26

MUNCY, PA- The Bucktail Lady Bucks began 2023 by hitting the road to meet Mid Penn Conference rival Muncy on Tuesday night and the home team came out on top, 53-26. The Lady Indians entered the contest at 5-2 and were currently sitting at #2 in the recent District 4 2A standings.

Muncy’s Avery Bigelow continued her hot hand against the Lady Bucks, especially in the first half. Bigelow scored 15 of her game-high 22 points in the first half of play to help her team take command early.

Bucktail’s offensive struggles didn’t help matters. The Lady Bucks netted just 4 first quarter points to Muncy’s 13. The Lady Indians built their lead to 23-8 at the half following a 10-4 advantage in the second quarter. Bucktail managed just one first half field goal and were limited to no made field goals in the second quarter.

Nolah Moyer, Muncy’s ace in the circle on the softball diamond became the Lady Indians ace in the paint in the third frame. Moyer poured in 10 of her 12 points in the third quarter and helped Muncy use a 17-10 third quarter advantage and build a 40-18 lead heading into the game’s final quarter.

Muncy’s defense again locked down on Bucktail. The Lady Indians allowed just 8 points in the fourth quarter and scored 13 of their own to set the final.

Muncy contained Mak Wagner to just 8 points, which led the Lady Bucks. Senior Kayla Probert added 6 points and Lily Francis netted 5 to round out Bucktail’s top scorers.

Bucktail (5-3, 2-2) will now head to Farwell Friday evening and host conference favorite South Williamsport.
