Optimist Roundtable
By Martha Sykes
This past week, it was heartwarming to watch the stories that were shared about Queen Elizabeth, following her death. During that time, it seemed like the world slowed down and people were taking time to thank God for her life and how she touched so many hearts with her kindness, her smile, her sense of humor and how she served her royal kingdom for so many years!!
Watching thousands of people stand in line for hours to pay tribute to her was very touching. The inspirational part of this was that people from all walks of life and many different nationalities joined together to share their love and their tears for what she represented to so many.
It was inspiring to see her family, the military, world leaders, the bagpipers, and others marching to her funeral service. Her wreath contained myrtle that was originally grown from a sprig that was in her wedding bouquet from the 1940’s. Just so many meaningful moments in front of over 2,000 people that were invited to this very special celebration of her life.
One of the comments made by a news commentator was that the Queen was a true Christian woman and that she not only talked the talk, but she walked the walk and her faith in God was always a part of her 96 years of life! The rainbow over Buckingham Palace right after she passed away was a true sign from our Lord that Heaven has gained a true servant
