Words of Grace
By Rev. Mahlon Nevel
In Revelation 5 we read of how John was shown the throne of God in heaven. In the hand of the Lord there was a book sealed with seven seals.
Then John saw a mighty angel and heard him proclaim with a loud voice concerning the book. “Who is worthy to open the book,” the angel asked, “and to lose the seals thereof?”
But there was no man who was found worthy, not in heaven, or in earth. This caused John to weep much because everyone was unworthy.
All of a sudden John saw a Lamb standing in their midst, looking like it had been slain. He saw the Lamb come to take the book out of the hand of the one who sat on the throne.
When he did that all who were gathered around the throne fell down before the Lamb and began to sing a new song: “Thou Art worthy… for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood.” Yes, we are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.
And then John saw thousands upon thousands of angels and he heard them worshiping the Lord. They joined together saying “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain.”
It has been said that the light of heaven is the face of Jesus: The joy of heaven is the presence of Jesus: The melody of heaven is the name of Jesus: The harmony of heaven is the praise of Jesus: And the fullness of heaven is the Lord Jesus Himself.
