Central Mountain Indoor Majorettes claim East Coast Championship
WILDWOOD, NJ – The Central Mountain Indoor Majorettes returned Sunday from Wildwood, New Jersey, tired but happy, bringing with them the Scholastic Twirler A Champion trophy earned on Saturday. The triumph for the 13-member team from the Central Mountain High School and Middle School was especially sweet as the squad was unable to compete due to COVID-19 the previous two years; the majorettes had won a championship at a lower level in 2019 and moved up in classification for Saturday’s event.
Stephanie Ford is the team coach and is assisted with show design by Matt Stoops. The winning show theme was Porcelain Dreams, a four-and-a-half minute presentation set to a variety of music.
The Indoor Majorettes win caps of the team’s two-month season. Also competing among the 150 units in the championships was the Central Mountain Color Guard; that group finished sixth in a field of 20 entrants. Six different states were represented in Wildwood.
The teams were expected back in Clinton County around 8:30 p.m. Sunday and plans were underway to welcome the championship squad back to town.
