LHU football adds Battaglia to coaching staff
The veteran offensive coach brings nearly a decade of Division I experience to Mulrooney’s inaugural staff.

LOCK HAVEN, PA – Lock Haven University head football coach Dan Mulrooney’s first coaching staff continues to take shape. The newly-appointed coach added a key position to his staff with the hiring of Joe Battaglia as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks’ coach.
“I am ecstatic to announce Joe Battaglia as our new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Lock Haven University,” said Mulrooney. “Coach Battaglia brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our program.”
Battalgia adds nearly a decade of experience to the staff following stints at Division I Coastal Carolina, Temple and Georgia Tech. Most recently during his tenure with the Ramblin’ Wreck, Battaglia served as an offensive analyst and assistant coach where he aided the development of elite quarterbacks and draft prospects.
Prior to his stint at Georgia Tech, Battaglia served Temple in a similar capacity under then-head coach Geoff Collins. Under Battaglia’s tutelage, Owls’ quarterback Anthony Russo was named to the Maxwell Award and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm watchlists.
“He has helped direct some of the nation’s top offenses during his time at Coastal Carolina, Temple University and most recently at Georgia Tech,” commented Mulrooney. “Most importantly, Joe is a person of high character who’s work ethic and experience will add immediate value to our program.”
Battaglia got his start in coaching at upstart Division I program, Coastal Carolina. During his tenure with the Chanticleers, he mentored the tight ends and inside wide receivers and guided seven different players to All-Big South Conference accolades.
Prior to his coaching days, Battaglia was a quarterback for one season at Division III Hartwick College.
The Bald Eagles are currently in the middle of the spring practice season, and Coach Mulrooney has set the spring game for Sunday, May 1.
Lock Haven opens the 2022 campaign on the road when it visits Post University on Saturday, September 3.
