Brockway quarterback hits milestone in 39-0 victory over Bucks

By Bees O’Brien

FARWELL, PA –  Bucktail knew going into their D9 League Small School South contest with Brockway that the Rovers had a special quarterback in freshman Braydon Fox.

Fox lit up the Bucks’ defense for 213 yards and four touchdowns to lead Brockway to a 39-0 victory on the road. The Rovers star entered the game with 1,993 passing yards on the season and on his very first completion to Alexander Carlson on a seven yard gain, he eclipsed the 2,000 yard mark in only his ninth game of the season.

The Fox to Carlson hook ups would happen often in the first half, including a late second quarter touchdown from 44 yards out.

It would be Brockway’s Dylan Hanna that would strike first on a 19 yard touchdown grab from Fox to give the visitors the 7-0 lead.

Fox was just getting warmed up.

He’d go on to complete his first 8 pass attempts, not throwing an incompletion until the second quarter.

Fox wasn’t the only star for the Rovers (4-5), running back Carter Hickman carved up the Bucktail defense throughout the night. Hickman scored on a 2-yard run with just over four minutes remaining in the first quarter to give Brockway the 14-0 lead.

Bucktail attempted to mount some offense, but a helmet to helmet penalty stalled a promising Bucktail drive.

Fox exploded in the second quarter with 3 touchdown passes. The first went to Blake Pisarcik from 11 yards out. Fox would hook up with his favorite target in Carlson from 44 yards out and he capped off his brilliant half with another score to Hanna from 17 yards out to build the 32-0 lead at the break.

With the mercy rule in play in the second half the Bucks (0-8) failed to mount much offense. Brockway’s high powered offense outgained Bucktail 320 yards to 127 yards.

Hickman capped off his solid night in the third quarter on a 29-yard score to set the 39-0 final. His 13 carries for 89 yards and the pair of scores led all rushers. Carlson led the Rovers in receiving with 7 grabs for 94 yards and the score. Dylan Hanna had a big night too for Brockway catching 3 balls for 75 yards and two touchdowns.

Dylan Cross once again led Bucktail’s offense. The senior quarterback rushed for 38 yards and threw for 47 yards. Cross also led the Bucks on defense with 7 solo stops.

Brody Pentz’s 3 catches for 27 yards led the Bucktail receiving corps. Braylon Fantaski added one catch for 20 yards.

Brockway entered the game fighting for their playoff lives and survived the long road trip to Bucktail. They will now host Brookville and will need to upset the Raiders to reach the crucial .500 mark and reach the District 9 2A playoffs. The Bucks will look to avenge a Week 2 loss to Cameron County 22-20 next Friday night in Farwell. The Red Raiders will need the win to complete their incredible turn-around and reach the D9 1A playoffs following their 34-14 loss to Port Allegany Friday night.
