CM girls’ soccer edged by Dragons, 2-1
LEWISBURG, PA – The Central Mountain Lady Wildcat soccer team visited the Lady Dragons of Lewisburg on Tuesday and the home team held off the visitors by a 2-1 score for the win.
It was a fun first half with Lewisburg getting on the board first. The Lady Wildcats responded when the home side couldn’t clear the ball. Riley Kaluzny’s first time volley into the back of the net marked her first goal of the 2021 season.
Unfortunately, the home side slid one more home before halftime and that was enough to give the Lady Dragon’s enough to see the game out.
The Lady Wildcats showed a bit more quality in the second half and were able to start doing the little things right but lacked much attack to pressure the home team. Coach Ryan Veltri said he is seeing “a continual improvement throughout this season as the Lady Wildcat soccer team is building and developing every day.”
On a more frustrating side, the JV game was not played. The coach said the CM program had confirmation that they would play earlier in the day but the Lewisburg coaching staff said they were unable to play. Veltri said the Lady Wildcats were “left a bit frustrated.”
Central Mountain sits at 2-9 on the season after the narrow loss. The Lady ‘Cats will be right back at it Wednesday, hosting Williamsport at Malinak Stadium at 3:30 p.m.
