BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – A roof problem at the Central Mountain High School gym last spring is causing scheduling/practice challenges for the school’s volleyball program this fall.

Wildcat athletic director Steve Hafele has notified parents of the changes which will take the senior high gym floor out of service, forcing games and practices to temporarily be held at the Central Mountain Middle School in Mill Hall.

Because of the roof problems in the spring, water ended up underneath the wooden flooring in the gym. The A-D said it was planned to do repairs over the summer but due to COVID, needed material was not available, pushing the project back, now scheduled to begin on Wednesday of this week. Best case the project will take two weeks to complete, worst case, three weeks. The hope is to be finished by Oct. 18, allowing the team, currently with a 6-2 record and in second place in District 6 Class 4A, to host a district playoff game later in the season.

Athletic Director Hafele informed parents he met with team members to discuss senior night plans and changes to the volleyball schedule.

The athletic director thanked those with the volleyball program for their understanding: “Thank you all for your understanding in this endeavor. I know that it is not something that ANY of us wanted for the girls this season. Let’s collectively make the best of it for our students. I truly believe that this is a resilient bunch of young ladies, and this is only going to drive them to push harder and be better for the post-season this year.”
