Behind big offensive output, Haven field hockey rolls to another victory

ST. LOUIS – For the second consecutive day, the Lock Haven University field hockey team (3-4) tallied six goals and the Bald Eagles rolled to their second win in St. Louis in as many days on Saturday. Lock Haven downed Bellarmine University (1-7), 6-2, at Saint Louis University in non-conference action.

On Friday LHU scored six goals in a 6-2 conference win over host-Saint Louis.

In Saturday’s win over Bellarmine, Lock Haven also benefitted from another big game from goalkeeper Joaquina Orlandini (Concordia, Argentina/San Antonio School) who made seven saves.

Leading the way on the scoresheet was Martina Spangenberg (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Piaget) who netted the hat trick. She also had one assist.

For the second straight game Constanza Lopez Zabala (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Colegio Martin y Omar) scored twice and Jasmine Miller (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) also made it two straight games with a goal as she found the back of the cage today in the win.

Lock Haven scored early and often. It was 1-0 LHU just 1:08 into the match and the Bald Eagles led 4-0 in the 41st minute of play before adding two more goals in the second half on the way to the dominating 6-2 neutral-site victory.

LHU will host Cornell in non-conference action on Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. on Charlotte Smith Field.
