Betty R. Nevins – Obituary
Betty R. Nevins,77, 148 Third St., Renovo, PA died Oct. 5, 2014 at the Bucktail Medical Center, South Renovo, PA. She was born May 18, 1937 in Newport, TN the daughter of the late George W. & Kathleen Martin Riggs, Jr. Betty was also the step-daughter of the late Henry Blisard.
On Dec. 30, 1988 she married James N. Nevins who died Nov. 12, 2010. She was a Registered Nurse who graduated from Fort Sanders Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in 1958 in Knoxville TN. She received a Bachelors of Science Nursing degree from the University of Tennessee in 1987. Betty worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital in St.
Petersburg, FL., St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL., Johnson City Medical Center in TN and Bucktail Medical Center in South Renovo, PA.
Betty was a member of the North Bend United Methodist Church and she enjoyed visiting the elderly & shut-ins taking them baked goods. She loved to cook but “She could really mess up a kitchen”!
Betty is survived by: three sons: Stephen Millspaugh, Sevierville, TN; Kevin (Marti) Nevins, North Bend, PA & Michael (Renee) Nevins, Richmond, TX; two Daughters: Stephanie (David) Rooker, McDonough, GA & Hilah (Connerly) Moore, Casper, WY; two Brothers, Don Riggs, TN and Wayne Blisard, AL; ten Grandchildren; ten Great-Grandchildren, six nieces and 4 nephews. She was predeceased by one grandchild and two brothers, William & Richard Blisard.
At Betty’s request there will be no public visitation & services with interment at Camp Laurelly at the convenience of her family.
