TOLEDO, Ohio – Laurel Moyer (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) of the Lock Haven University women’s outdoor track & field team competed Saturday at the Toledo Rocket Last Chance Qualifier, hosted by the University of Toledo, and broke her own school record turning in a seventh-place finish.

Competing vs. an elite field in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Moyer shaved another second off her personal best, which was already a school-record and conference-champion time, and turned in a blazing run of 10:39.21.

Moyer, who had run the steeplechase just twice before Saturday, including her career debut two weeks earlier, entered the weekend ranked eighth in the event for Division II. Her time Saturday remains eighth best in the country.

Moyer is in a good position to receive a bid for the upcoming NCAA championships, but the field is yet to be determined. The NCAA will announce the full field of selected athletes for the 2021 championships on Tuesday, May 18.

The 2021 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Championships are scheduled for Thursday-Saturday, May 27-29 at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan.
