Tuesday last day to apply for mail-in or civilian absentee ballot

It’s back: Clinton County’s secured voting box has been reinstalled in front of the Piper Building, off E. Bald Eagle Street in Lock Haven.

LOCK HAVEN, PA – Clinton County’s May 18 municipal primary election is fast approaching and Tuesday, May 11 is the last day for Pennsylvania registered voters to apply for a mail-in or civilian absentee ballot (May 3 was the day to register to vote in the primary).

State election officials say there are two vote-by-mail options in Pennsylvania: Any registered voter can apply for a mail-in ballot without a reason. Absentee ballots are for voters away from their election precinct on election day, or have an illness or disability preventing their in-person voting.

These applications have to be received by the county office by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11.

Meanwhile Clinton County voter registrar Maria Boileau has announced the county has installed its outside secured voting box in front of the county Piper Building. Election Day, May 18, at 8 p.m. is the deadline for county receipt of the mail-in and civilian absentee ballots.

As of early last week, the county had received 1,300 mail-in ballot requests.
