Lady Wildcats Drop Milton 1-0
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The Lady Wildcats continued their efforts of the 2014 season with a 1-0 win over Milton Monday night at Malinak Stadium.
Central Mountain came into the contest with a respectable 4-2-1 record, though they are only averaging a single goal per game.
The lone score against the Lady Black Panthers came off a penalty kick by Vanessa Leone at the 26:30 mark of the first period after she was fouled in the box while on the attack.
For much of the game both teams traded possession in the middle of the field while also taking turns taking shots at their opponent’s goal. Except of the lone PK, neither team could find the mark to change the scoreboard.
On the night, the Lady ‘Cats had sis shots on goal while the defense held well with Bryann Hilty recording sis saves on the night.
Tonight also marked the return of senior, Rebecca Leuthold who suffered a knee injury requiring surgery back in preseason practice. Leuthold recorded solid minutes as the coaching staff eases her back into the lineup.
Also of not, the win for Central Mountain was an additional birthday anniversary gift for junior Jamey Renniger, who celebrated her special day with aggressive play throughout the game.
Next up for Central Mountain will be home gems against Williamsport on Wednesday night and Holidaysburg Saturday evening.
