Buck B-ballers snap skid, down Quakers, 9-6

MILLVILLE, PA – The Bucktail baseball team got locked in a tight one at Millville Saturday afternoon but pushed across three runs in the top of the seventh to come home a 9-6 winner over the Quakers. The victory snapped a seven-game Buck losing streak and put the team at 2-9 on the year.

Freshman Brett Mason had a career day for the Bucks, both pitching and hitting. He went to the mount in the bottom of the sixth, got the final out there and then hurled a scoreless seventh to pick up the win; he gave up a hit, a walk and recorded one strikeout in relief of starter Kayden Friese and reliever Braylon Fantaski. Friese pitched a strong 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, giving up three runs (two earned), striking out five and walking four before leaving in the bottom of the sixth on the pitch count rule.

The Bucks pounded out 10 hits. Mason led the way with a 3-for-3 showing: two singles, a triple, a walk, an RBI and three runs scored. Braylon Fantaski had a single, a double and a RBI and made it home 2 times for the score.Paul Risley had two singles, Friese with a double and three runs batted in. Gunner Sockman had a double and an RBI and singles came from Ashton Intallura (with two RBIs), and Johnny Green.

Millville dropped to 2-5-1 with the loss. The Bucks will be on the road next week: Tuesday at Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech and Thursday at Montgomery (4-2).
