LHU names track & field complex in honor of Allison family
LOCK HAVEN, PA – Lock Haven University and the LHU department of athletics have announced that the university’s track & field complex has been named in honor of Glen Allison (’94) in recognition of his generosity and support of LHU, Haven athletics and the track & field programs.
LHU’s track & field complex at Hubert Jack Stadium will be further known as the Glen Allison Family Track & Field Complex.
“Competing for Lock Haven was one of the most memorable times in my life, not only for me personally, but for what it did for my family as well. My parents were a huge part of the team, as they traveled to almost every meet we had,” Allison said. “Seeing my college roommate Aaron step in as head coach and grow the family-oriented magic has been amazing to watch. When students are competing and their families can show up to the meets and be a part of it, it builds memories for a lifetime. It’s a joy to help the LHU track & field team grow while helping to continue its tradition of family, and to honor my father’s name in something he loved so much.”
Allison, a 1994 LHU graduate was a standout for the LHU men’s indoor and outdoor track & field teams during his four-year athletic career at The Haven. He was a conference champion in both the high jump and pole vault, and was named the most valuable field athlete at the 1994 outdoor Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championships.
Allison still ranks among the top-five all-time at LHU in pole vault and high jump. He ranks fifth all-time on the school’s indoor top-five list in the pole vault with a mark of 14-06 and he ranks fifth indoor in the high jump with a mark of 6-08.5. Outdoors, Allison ranks fifth all-time in the pole vault as well with a mark of 15-01 and he sits fifth in the high jump with a height of 6-09.
During his four years of athletic competition with the Bald Eagles, his father, Glen Allison, Sr., traveled with his mother Donna to every event that the team participated in.
“The Allisons were like our team mom and dad,” recalls current LHU track and field head coach Aaron Russell, a roommate of Glen while they were teammates together at Lock Haven University. “They loved track and field as much as Glen. In addition to supporting him, they were very devoted to both programs and truly embodied what it meant to be a part of The Haven family. Glen’s contributions to our programs continues a legacy of support from the Allisons, and will impact the lives of countless track and field student-athletes at LHU for years to come.”
Allison went on to become the Chief Operating Officer at Honey, which was recently acquired by PayPal. He recently relocated to Miami to become president and chief operating officer at On Deck.
“We are extremely grateful to Glen for his generosity and commitment to Haven athletics,” said Joe Fiochetta, LHU Vice President for University Advancement. “Glen’s gift provides our student athletes with the critical resources needed for a positive, competitive collegiate experience. Our thanks to Glen and his family for his continued support of LHU and LHU Athletics.”
“Glen’s commitment to our track & field programs will have a significant impact on the student-athlete experience,” said Dr. Tom Gioglio, LHU Director of Athletics. “I am extremely grateful and appreciate his continued support.”
