Montoursville Too Much for CM
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Montoursville did a good job Tuesday night taking away the offense from Central Mountain’s girls’ soccer team. While the Lady Wildcats worked hard, they fell to the visiting Lady Warriors by a 4-0 count, dropping coach Jeff Brinker’s team to 1-7 on the season. Montour moved to 7-3 with the win.
Montoursville’s stifling defense held Central Mountain to just one shot on the night; that came from the foot of Haley McCollin in the second half. The Lady ‘Cats did have several opportunities in half number two, but could not penetrate the Montour backline.
The visitors put up two first half goals: at the 27:36 mark, a near post goal off a corner kick from Madison Moll; and at the 19:46 mark, Alexia Ulmer scoring from the left side. A third goal came from Abby Zartman from 35 yards out at the 24:27 mark of the second half. The final Warrior goal came when the ball found its way into the net from in front of the goal.
Montoursville out-shot the home team, 11 to 1, and had an identical 11-1 edge in corner kicks. Goal keep Madison Briggs made seven saves for Central Mountain.
The Lady Wildcats are to travel to Midd-West on Thursday, Oct. 8, a 7 p.m. contest, and at Jersey Shore on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 4 p.m.
