LOCK HAVEN – The Clinton County Economic Partnership has announced that Appalachian Drilling Services Inc. has purchased a lot at the Lamar Township Business Park, and the company plans to construct a new building at the site and add to its present employee level.

Closing on the project was held on Tuesday of this week; the sale price was not announced.

Appalachian, an oil and natural gas servicing company which presently leases space in Beech Creek Township, plans to break ground on an anticipated 75,000 square foot building at the business park in the next 16 months. The company has 25 full-time employees, and looks to add 10 to 20 positions in the next three years. The lot that was acquired is just under 10 acres.

“We are pleased that Appalachian has purchased land from us and will build in the near future,” said Partnership Board chairman James Berkebile. “This is an excellent company headed by Seth Martin and we are proud to have them in our county.”

Appalachian is an oil and gas servicing company dedicated to optimizing customers’ drilling operations with full service drilling fluid and lubricants management and state-of-the-art chemicals, solid waste and waste oil containment services. The company provides turn-key and patent-pending services that improve operational efficiency while minimizing the customer’s exposure to environmental risk and impact.

“We are excited to fulfill this important step in our expansion plans,” said Appalachian owner Seth Martin. “Investing in a build to suit facility on our recently purchased 10 acre parcel at the Lamar Township Business Park is a critical step in the growth of Appalachian Drilling Services. We are proud to be engaged in such a dynamic, growth industry and equally proud to strengthen our ties to Clinton County.”

Berkebile thanked the state’s Commonwealth Financing Authority, Northwest Savings Bank, and the Clinton County Revolving Loan Board for its assistance related to the project.

The Partnership has about 50 acres remaining to sell at the park. It is a Keystone Opportunity Zone which means the remaining acreage is virtually tax free until the end of 2020. The other park tenants include APC International and Baker Hughes. The Appalachian lot is across from Baker Hughes on Heckman Gap Road.
