Lady ‘Cats Rally for 2-0 Win over Jersey Shore

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The Central Mountain girls’ soccer team has been seeking a win for quite some time, tonight they achieved that goal with a decisive 2-0 win over down river rival, Jersey Shore.

The Lady Wildcats entered the game 0-5 and played intently the entire game seeking a victory. Jersey Shore had not had much success this season as well, earning a 0-4-1 record. With scoreboard still locked on goose eggs at intermission, the Lady ‘Cays finally broke the seal on the goal and took a 1-0 lead off the foot of Lily Hendricks with an assist from Halle Lodek. Then with 14:18 remaining in the game, Avery Baker found the back of the net after an assist from Traci Thompson to put CM up 2-0.

Central Mountain led it shots on goal 8-2 with 4 shots from Hendricks, 3 shot from Baker and 1 shot from Mia Kopysciansky. The Lady Wildcats also had the edge in corner kicks, 3-0. Maddie Briggs recorded 6 saves for CM while Bulldog keeper, Elizabeth Fishel had 1 save in the game.

Jersey Shore now stands at 0-5-1 on the year and Central Mountain improves to 1=5.

Next up for the Lady ‘Cats will hit the road on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 to face Shamokin.
