Shoe Bank Re-opens by Appointment Only

LOCK HAVEN – The Lock Haven Area Shoe Bank will re-open on Saturday, August 15 and if needed on Saturday, August 22. It has been closed since February.

Due to COVID-19, there are new procedures for coming to the Shoe Bank to protect the families we serve as well as our valuable volunteers. If anyone is ill, please stay home.

1. Everyone will be required to wear a mask. If you do not wear one, you will not be able to come into the church building. The Shoe Bank is inside Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven, and serves Clinton County and the Liberty-Curtin Elementary attendance area.

2. Only two families will be allowed into the Shoe Bank at a time. Appointments will be scheduled every 15 minutes depending on the size of the family.

Appointment times for both Saturdays are 11:00, 11:15, 11:30, 11:45, 12:00, 12:15, 12:30, 12:45, 1:00, 1:15, 1:30; 1:45, and 2:00. Depending on the need for time slots, more may be added. To schedule an appointment, call Diahann G. Claghorn at 814-571-5324 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please state if you are new to the program, how many boys and girls need shoes, and if there are any special requests or needs, such as needing to come in through the handicap entrance.

3. Please arrive five minutes early to keep your appointment. If you are late for your scheduled time, you will have to reschedule.

4. There will be no activities for the children in the hallway. We will only be using the hallway for a short waiting time for up to two families. The water fountain and bathrooms are closed.

5. We will be following all CDC and PA Department of Health guidelines by cleaning and sanitizing after each family has left so everyone is safe.

6. No walk-ins will be able to get shoes. Everyone needs an appointment.

The agency will continue to follow these procedures as well as adjust them while the pandemic is here. If you have any questions, please call Diahann G. Claghorn at 814-571-5324.

The Lock Haven Area Shoe Bank gives a free pair of new shoes and socks to children ages 0 – 17 who have a CHIP card, a similar insurance card, or a Medical Access card. Kids and teens may also be referred by an agency or organization. Free books are also given to the children.
