Flags respectfully burned at 40&8 club

LOCK HAVEN, PA – The Forty & Eight Voiture 903 Clinton County held its annual Flag Disposal Ceremony on June 10, 2020 at the club grounds. Master of Ceremony Bernie Zbicki opened the program with a prayer led by Nelson Haight, Lampsite and then lead a Salute to the Colors as well as the Pledge of Allegiance. Guest Speaker from State Representative Stephanie Borowicz was Michelle McCain, District Constituent Outreach Specialist, who spoke about what the flag of our nation represents in regards to freedom for all Americans. She thanked all the service men and women who have fought and are still fighting for this freedom. Bruce Harpster, Correspondent, presented the unserviceable flags for disposal to Perry Haines, Chef De Gare, which was then inspected and determined to be unserviceable and are to be destroyed. The Jersey Shore Honor Guard played taps and fired a 21 gun salute. Speak guest, Dave Bower, Asst Service Officer of the VFW and Jennifer Hagman, Dept. of Veterans Affairs, Clinton County, were in attendance. Also in attendance was Boy Scout Troop 54 from Beech Creek/Blanchard, who helped move the flags for disposal. Closing prayer was led by Nelson Haight, Lampsite. Refreshments were served after the program. A big thank you to all who helped make this event happen as well to all who attended.
