Lyla F. Kunes Obituary

Lyla F. Kunes, 93, of 307 Cedar Lane, Mill Hall passed away Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Haven Skilled Rehabilitation and Nursing, Lock Haven.

Born January 18, 1927 in Gainesville, Missouri, she was a daughter of the late Curtis S. and Georgia A. (Wheeler) Amyx.

Lyla was a graduate of Gainesville High School.  She then practiced as a beautician.

On May 14, 1953 in Nebraska, she married her love, Robert S. Kunes, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage before his passing in 2014.

She was a member of the Mill Hall Church of Christ.

Lyla was also a member of the Women of the Moose.

She was an avid bowler.

Surviving are two daughters, Glenda (Bill) Bowles of South Carolina and Roberta (Dennis) Shawley of Mill Hall, who was her parent’s caretaker for 11 years; a daughter-in-law, Janis Kunes of Mackeyville; a brother, Cleon Amyx of Missouri; six grandchildren: Billy and Ian Bowles, Joe (Bailey) Shawley, David (Gina) Shawley, and Ryan and Katelyn Kunes; and 8 great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert S. Kunes, Jr.; a grandson, Clinton Bowles; three brothers; and three sisters.

Private services will be held at the convenience of her family.  Interment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Clinton Lanes or the Women of The Moose.

Flowers intended for the private service should be received at the funeral home by 10 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2020.
