Daryl Gene Friese – Obituary
Daryl Gene Friese, 69, of Cross Fork, PA passed away Saturday, January 4, 2020 at UPMC Susquehanna supported by his son and daughter-in-law.
Daryl was born July 13, 1950 in Renovo, the son of the late Merrill and Bertha (Rupert) Friese. He married Patricia “Patty” Kinney on December 23, 1972 in Tamarack. Patty preceded him in death in 2002.
He is survived by an only son, Casey Friese and wife Carrie Friese of West Renovo and their 4 children; Kayden, Kyler, Keller, and Kiplee. Also surviving is a sister Betty Marshall and her husband David of Coatesville, PA and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Daryl was preceded in death by his brother Merrill Friese Jr., his sister Donna Smith-Friese, his sister Kathryn Friese, and his brother William “Bill” Friese Sr.
Daryl attended Renovo High School. He resided with his wife and son in Harrisburg for a few years before returning to the area. He was well known for being the owner and operator of the Cross Fork Inn for many years alongside his wife Patty and a few loyal employees. He was awarded recognition in the Global Directory of Who’s Who Honoring Executives and Professionals for small businesses. Upon selling the business after more than a decade, Daryl returned to his love of mechanics and small engine repair. He was an avid collector of cars and was frequently sought out for his skill with lawn mower repair and revitalization. He enjoyed playing cards regularly with a close circle of friends.

Cremation is planned and Daryl will be privately laid to rest with his wife. A Celebration of Life gathering is planned for the spring. Condolences can be sent to his son, Casey, at 11179 Ridge Road Renovo, PA 17764.
