Juveniles Caught in Erie Avenue Burglary

RENOVO – Borough police say the suspects in an overnight break-in last Friday on Erie Avenue have been identified. Police officer Cpl. Michael Jeffries said they are two area juveniles and will be charged with burglary through the juvenile court system.

Officer Jeffries said he was several blocks from the Puff-N-Snuff store at 700 Erie Avenue around midnight last Friday and the store’s burglar alarm sounded. He responded and gave chase, he said, as the burglars fled across the nearby railroad tracks. They were able to get away, despite a search conducted by state police and volunteer firemen from the Renovo area.

Later that day, officer Jeffries said, he received a call from one of the parents and the two intruders later admitted to their entry. He said they dropped their take, including E-cigarettes during their flight and one suffered minor injuries when falling on the tracks.

Officer Jeffries said they had ridden their bikes to near the Erie Avenue store and walked to the business and broke in but fled when the alarm sounded. He thanked state police and firemen for their assistance in the case.
