Wildcats Fall to Danville, 2-0

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – In a hard-fought contest, Danville picked up a 2-0 win over Central Mountain in boys’ soccer action at Malinak Stadium Thursday night.

After a scoreless first period, Danville converted their first score came six minutes into the second period on a direct kick that split the Wildcat defense and found the back of the net. The Ironmen added their second score with 5:50 remaining in the game for the 2-0 win.

Danville led in both shots on goal, 7-4 and corner kicks, 4-0.

For Central Mountain it was Seth Reese, Jeremiah Thomas, Alec Leuthold and Chase Young with one shot on goal each. CM keeper, Greg Walizer had 7 saves on the night.

The game was played very evenly, but Danville converted more shots into goals. Though, both teams played aggressively and with intensity there were few fouls in the game. There were only two infractions in the first period and perhaps a handful more calls in the second period.

The loss takes Central Mountain to 1-3 overall, 1-1 in the PHAC.

The Wildcats will next see action when they host Shikellamy on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, a game that was originally scheduled for Sept. 26. The JV game is set for 4 p.m. with the varsity game to follow.
