FARWELL – It took the Bucktail Lady Bucks only two at bats Wednesday to overwhelm the game but overmatched Sugar Valley Rural Charter School. Bucktail put up 10 runs in the bottom of the first and five more in the second and when the Phoenix didn’t score in the top of the third, the game ended on the 15-run, 3-inning rule, 15-0.

The victory put Bucktail at 10-0, a school record for consecutive wins for the Lady Bucks, most recently ranked as the number eight Class A team in the state, according to MaxPreps. Sugar Valley, which plays an away-only schedule, fell to 0-4.

Bucktail took advantage of six first inning walks to go with five hits to post its 10-spot. Jordan Burrow walked and stole second, scoring on a Myka Poorman single. Emma Poorman walked, Tessa Cowfer singled in a run and Sara Kepler followed with an RBI double. Walks to Raileigh Isaacs and Emma Intallura followed and Burrows, in her second at bat of the inning, doubled in two runs; Emily Cross singled, then walks to the Poorman sisters, Emma’s driving in a run. The scoring finally ended shortly after Cowfer singled in the ninth and tenth runs of the inning.

The Lady Bucks scored five more in the bottom of the second, using several Phoenix errors along with singles from Isaac, Intallura and both Poorman sisters.

Myka Poorman finished with two singles, as did Cowfer. Burrows had three RBIs, two each from both Poormans and Cowfer. Other RBIs came from Cross, Kepler and Intallura.

Emma Poorman started in the circle and picked up the win, going 2.2 innings with seven strikeouts and two walks. Myka Poorman got the final out, a strikeout. The two combined on a 2-hitter. The Phoenix hits, both singles, came from Samantha Elling and Erika Bower.

Bucktail will be back in action Thursday at Benton (0-11), game time 4:30 p.m. Sugar Valley’s next action will be Saturday, April 27, at Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech (4-7).
