Wildcats Place Third in Home Tournament
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Central Mountain hosted Altoona, Indiana and Mifflin County on the tennis courts today for tournament action. The Wildcats played two matches, falling to Altoona, 4-1 then rallying to sweep Mifflin County 5-0 to place third.
Altoona captured the championship with Indiana placing second and the Huskies finishing fourth.
In their first match, Altoona’s Jonah Brandt handed CM’s Morgan Talbot a 6-3, 6-1 loss at No. 1 singles. Then the Mountain Lion’s Casey Rispoli took down the ‘Cats Gavyn Walker 6-1, 6-4 in No. 2 singles action. At No. 3 singles, Altoona picked up another win when Nick Schimminger defeated Ujjval Adroja, 6-0, 6-3.
Altoona’s Mike Schimminger and Kyle Murray got past CM’s Brady Williams and Jackson Walker, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles. Then, at No. 2 doubles, the Wildcat duo of Ethan Hall and Leisher Gugino turned the table on the Mountain Luins with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Colby Bickel and Alex Berardinelli.
In their second match, Central Mountain picked up the pace and pitched a shutout to the Huskies.
Morgan Talbot dispatched Gavin Ream, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 singles while Gavyn Walker defeated Collin Bennett, 6-3, 6-2. Ujjval Adroja picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win over Josh Nichols at No. 3 singles.
Brady Williams and Jackson Walker bested Alex Wert and Brad Fultz, 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. Ethan Hall and Leisher Gugino picked up their second win of the day to complete the sweep of the Huskies with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Colby Bickel and Alex Berardinelli at No. 2 doubles.
Today’s action gives Central Mountain a 2-5 record on the season.
The Wildcats will be back in action will next host Selinsgrove for a key PHAC match on Thursday, April 4, 2019.
