Two Clinton County Republicans Seek Congressional District Nomination

LOCK HAVEN – Two Clinton County residents have submitted their names for consideration as the Republican Party nominee for Congress from Pennsylvania’s 12th district.

Local GOP officials have confirmed that Jessica Bowman Hosley and Kevin Ferrara have joined the field for party consideration as a replacement for Tom Marino who resigned last month. Dr. Hosley is an associate professor at Lock Haven University and resides in Bald Eagle Township. Ferrara is a resident of Pine Creek Township and a consulting contractor. He is the husband of Michele Whitney, among the candidates seeking a GOP nomination for county commissioner this spring.

The Hosley and Ferrara names bring to seven the last count of Republican Party members from the 15-county 12th district who are vying for the party nomination for a special election to be held in conjunction with Pennsylvania’s May primary. The GOP choice will be made at a convention of party delegates to be held in Williamsport on Saturday, March 2. Clinton County GOP Chairman Kurt Smith said the local GOP will have 10 representatives among the 202 attendees to determine the party nominee.

Whoever is selected will oppose Marc Friedenberg, the Democratic nominee from State College. Friedenberg was the only Democrat to submit his name for consideration. The Penn State faculty member had been decisively defeated by Marino in November.
