Mifflinburg Rolls to 50-34 Win over CM

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Hoping to pick up a win in 2018, the Lady Wildcat basketball team came up short 50-36 to a very experienced Mifflinburg squad.

Mifflinburg held a commanding 30-10 lead at the half and maintained that level of control in the final two periods.

“It didn’t feel like we were playing horrible in the first half, I don’t think we were aggressive enough in the early going,” sac CM head coach, Scott Baker, “That lack of aggression was compounding everything.”

“That is a veteran team,” Baker said of Mifflinburg, “We saw two contrasts, a veteran team vs. a young team. They were mixing defenses on us and that was causing us some frustrations.”

Undaunted by their situation, Central Mountain never gave up and battled back in the second half. Mifflinburg only edged CM 10-9 in the third quarter with the lady ‘Cats outpacing Mifflinburg, 15-10 in the final period.

“At half time we asked the girls to play more aggressively and attack,” Baker explained, “I thought we did a better job and got some shots in the second half. We asked them from the beginning that we wanted two things out of them. Attitude and effort. If we do those two things we will get better and we can work with that,” Baker concluded.

Mia Kopysciansky led the Lady Wildcats with 13 points, 9 from outside the arc. Quinlynn Mccann had 8 points and Olivia Anastos dropped in 5 points. Madyson Smith, Avery Baker, Summer Flanagan and Morgan Wetzel had 2 points each for CM.

Centra Mountain moves to 0-5 overall, 0-3 in PHAC play and will have off for the holiday break until they host Bald Eagle Area on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019.
