Mifflinburg Spoils Central Mountain Home Opener, 56-44










BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The Central Mountain boys’ basketball team is still seeking their first win of the season as they had their hopes dashed tonight by visiting Mifflinburg, 56-44.
After earning a slim 14-13 lead in the first quarter of play, the Wildcats faltered in the second quarter with Mifflinburg outpacing the hosts, 16-6 for a 27-20 lead at intermission.
Mifflinburg kept up the pace in the third quarter getting past CM 20-14 to extend their lead to 47-34. In the fourth quarter the pace slowed down with Central Mountain edging Mifflinburg, 10-9 for the final 56-44 score.
Collin Jones was the only CM player to hit double digits on the night with 20 points and 9 boards. Jake Skrtich added 8 points and 5 rebounds, Aiden Major had 5 points and 2 boards while Tanner Lavelle scored 4 points on the night. Zane Probst had 3 points and 6 boards with JT Pentz and Conner Soo scoring 2 points and snaring 5 rebounds each.
The loss takes Central Mountain to 0-4 on the season and 0-3 in PHAC play.
The Wildcats will have a day off to prepare for their Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018 non-conference game with Du Bois. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
